In February 2015, a fruit fly from Queensland was found in Grey Lynn Auckland. The area was declared fruit fly zone and was put under a fruit and vegetable lockdown . Todate, they have caught 14 adults.
While it mainly disrupted people who live in the affected area who can't take fruit out of the zone, last week, I experience the first disruption. My girl friend who lives in the fruit fly zone has a tree with plentiful mandarins. She can't give me some.

Some of the timber people became millionaires. Once it was rumoured that there were more Mercedees per capita in Sibu than elsewhere in the world. What a sad statistic.
The good times don't last for ever. Indiscriminate cutting, led to the decimation of the tropical hardwood and the destroying of the habitat of the orang utan, our native primate.
I have become a tree hugger, I once wrote a poem
"The last tree left staying."

The Ngajat dance, I don't think you need to be taught the steps, as my Kai Sister Magdeline says, the agung gong is mesmorising, and others suspect that it is the the fire water the duak that threw any inhibition our of the window. As for me, this was the first and probably the only chance I get to do this dance. I wanted my New Zealand students to share in the fun. The dance is very elegant as you can see our dance leader Awa. I just twirled my fingers. Wearing my Nyonya Kebaya set the mood.
The beautiful Iban/Sea Dayak orange costume of Awa.
Siblings Benson and Mag ah Lee, full of fun. That is why I love them.
When Mother and her siblings were born, Grandfather Kong invited the Sea Dayak chieftains to be their adopted parents. There was a big ceremony with much feasting and dining. These chieftains became Mother and her sibling’s Apai (Dad) and Amei (Mum). In so doing, the Sea Dayak chieftains and all those living in that particular longhouse pledged to treat Mother and her siblings as their own. Should any Sea Dayak from another long house come to attack the Kongs, their adopted longhouse would come and protect them. This is an interesting ceremony as we are unaware of other families doing the same.

Finally , there is talk about a regeneration snail cream. I kept very quiet because 2 years ago, there was a documentary on it, and I started using it. Of course, it is not made from my garden snail, it is made my a special name found in the bush of New Zealand.
Here is it.

Important buildings of your city
I attended my lectures here.
Choral Hall where I had my management lecture.
My husband spent 10 years in the Engineering school, and another 10 years as a part time lecturer.Law school library. My daughter went to law school.
In 1978, I enrolled in Auckland University. As an Arts student, I had some lectures at this Old Arts building. In winter, it was freezing like an old castle. But I like this building, as it gives me the feel of the university being old and has a lot of tradition and roots.
Every year, the Arts faculty sends by snail mail an invitation to support the Faculty of Arts Scholarship program with a gift to the Arts Alumni Scholarship Fund.
I met my husband here, and he got a Phd, and is a part time lecturer. Here, I stood in front of the engineering school.
My daughter graduated with a law degree.
This building has a personal importance to me. The university library circulates all my books.

The reason for this post is something had happened to my blogger.
I have been blogging since 2008,
Now I can't comment on some of the sites I visit.
And some of my friends can't visit me.
Really really sorry.
I took my adult ESOL students of Mt Albert Baptist church for a Kiwi lesson. We were to Pt Chevalier RSA, (Returned Services Association) and have lunch and relaxation. We dined with some retired soldiers. There we saw knitted poppies for remembrance. We remembered the soldiers who died the the wars.
