Friday Shootout: Bokeh

On Good Friday our topic is 'Bokeh or Hands by T’ and Kerry the excellent player that she is looking ahead and asking, "Is there somebody out there who would like to coach us on how to get the bokeh effect, using simple digital cameras? It would be fun to know."
Kerry
DSC09261 A quick look in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh says, "In photography, bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light." Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting— "good" or "bad" bokeh, respectively. Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field. Photographers sometimes deliberately use a shallow focus technique to create images with prominent out-of-focus regions."
Who can tell us more? please email the response if your not on the 'bloggerTeam' and I will continue a series of posts....
and this brings another question - should this have been two topics "Bokeh' and Hands. T let me know and I will adjust the list....
I have no clue if this is an example of Bokeh – but its got blur and color which please MY eye.
Bokeh is a focal blur.” Ginger V
I have been reading what Bokeh is, it seemed so technical that last night, I resolved I wasn't going to take part. Today is the first day of my school holidays. I was reflecting on what I have been teaching my students. A good learner never gives up, it is better to participate than never try at all. I looked at some of the fellow bloggers' post. I don't know if these qualify to be Bokeh.

Hi Ann, I wish you a very Happy Easter. Yes, I am looking forward to my holiday.
so Ann your comment that you would participate this week was an April fools joke, thank goodness you did I of course like the flower the best....
You've got great arrays of bokeh Ann. I like that tricycle it reminds me of Philippines too. Happy Easter!
My Bokeh
Ann? You posted after all, and I'm sure glad you did. These are some very fine examples of bokeh!
Good advice to yourself, I am that way too. I stumbled upon bokeh and then was told a year ago that photographers use it for their art form, so I play with it now and then, and I have a cheesy small point and click, but yours look great!
Glad you changed your mind and had a go, Ann. I thought of all the reasons why it would be OK to miss this weeks challenge but in the end decided I would never learn if I did that.
Love your flower! The blurred background definitely adds to the detail, doesn't it?
The orange rose is so soft, very beautiful.
Great photos. Love the rose, you've captured it beautifully.
Happy Easter to you and yours.
Cheers.

I see some good bokeh here, the flower shots. For point and shoot, the easiest way to achieve bokeh is to use the macro feature. Unless yours have manual features that allow you to adjust the aperture.
I adored the first one..they are all wonderful!! Hugs, Sarah
I love the orange rose,very beautiful :D.
The rose with water drops has bokeh in it - absolutely great shot!
the second shot is stunning. love it!! great post Ann!
This looks good to me. I think we all learned something with this Friday Shootout. Bokeh is probably more complicated and at the same time easier that it seems.
Your photos are lovely. The rose is very beautiful.
Happy Easter....
Lovely flower! This bokeh thing was very tricky, at least I found it so. Good for you for not giving up!
So glad you didn't give up! That's how we learn~
