Save the World: Respect public property

http://reducefootprints.blogspot.com/

I went to a beautiful park in Owairaka.

New Zealand has very good timber. My brother in law Kallang admired how the timber were slotted without nails to make benches and BBQ tables. He said how ingenious the makers were. He wanted to visualize how to make them and intended to take the technology back to his home in the Bario Highlands in Borneo.

I am always happy when I go out in the open greenery and sea front. Unfortunately some idiot had ruined the joy for the day. They burned a perfectly good bench.

The burnt mark looked like a heart. The only consolation is I thought of fellow blogger Brenda. She has a collection of stone hearts. This ironically is for you Brenda.

Some people have no respect for public property. Burning is worst than graffiti. With graffiti, you can wash the writings off. With burning, the whole bench is ruined. In extreme cases, in a very dry summer, bush fires can happen.

Ann: I so agree with your thoughts, people have no respect for others.

The law should punish those who destroy public properties severely!

People can sometime do things within their boundary of happiness. Sadly their happiness cause pains in some others. ~bangchik

Oh my goodness, how very sad and very maddening. What is wrong with people? I did spot the "heart" immediately though!

It is a sad day for the bench. Some people are just too "funny" in the head and they believe that public property is their for them to destroy!
This is worst than the tidak apa attitude we often condemn.
Lovely photos....and great thoughts.

Talking about public properties...you know about the ones here. One will find great luck if you find a working public phone. Anyway, pretty 'love' burns..happy week ahead.hugs/M

How sad, though you can find vandals everywhere.

Yes, it is a shame that some people think it is 'fun' to destroy the property of others.
Great photos.

It is sad that we have such idiots in society. The bench without nails sounds ingenious.

Hi Ann
It's sad that people don't appreciate public property.. after all it is there for them to use and enjoy their surroundings... it would be a fire hazard here also... but none the less it looks like you had a lovely day outdoors.. and by the sea.. absolutely my favourite...

Thanks for popping by and your lovely comment... it's always great to meet other bloggers... Have a lovely week .. Julie

I agree with you, there is no reason to ruin public spaces...people should be grateful for their beauty.

Thanks for your visit today!

NZ really does have beautiful wood. It is sad that people do not respect all things, all life in the highest regard.

How awful to burn things. Here in my country there are two places where arsonists are creating fear among the citizens of the cities.
Thanks for your visit. You asked about my header. It was taken in the Tablelands in Queensland, Australia and it shows the Millaa Millaa Falls.

I am appalled at the level of vandalism in our society, and I'm sad to see it in your beautiful country, too. When we were in Auckland in 1987-8, we saw very little, especially in rural areas.

But maybe someone just dropped a cigarette there? Careless, but I'd feel better if it was an accident!

Hi Jay,

I don't think it was an accident. I think some love lorn couple deliberately tried to burn a heart on it.
