In many of New Zealand's rail tracks, there are no barriers. A man was hit at a small town station. He had no ID and was unconscious and on life support in a serious but stable condition in Palmerston North Hospital.

This has been happening a lot with our trams where we live... Time to erect barriers perhaps?

Trains are SO fascinating! Despite the barriers we have here in the USA, people still crawl over or under them and get hit by trains...
here, people live beside the train tracks. just imagine the risks they're taking everyday. there have been a massive relocation for those informal settlers, and the government built concrete walls by the tracks.

Train tracks without barriers is accident waiting to happen. Hope it is a happy ending for the guy that got hit.

train tracks have always been dangerous places. they require a lot more respect.
How I wish we have trains in Sarawak.
Not long ago my daughter's mum in law gave us a treat in Victoria Station Restaurant in KL. Gave me a great sense of coach ambiance...a real coach was part of the decor...
May be I should take up an Indian Train Tour or a New Zealand Train Tour....
We had a few accidents with the Malaysian railway that comes into Singapore , only the MRT tracks have barriers around them.
re: your comment; yes, the show is free for the visitors of the malls. During school holidays there's always a free show to attract more shopper. Those dancers from China was performing in VivoCity ( harbourfrount) during the Chinese New Year celebrations early this year. This is not the only mall that bring in performers from China.
Inspite of the barriers and the loud alarm bells, cars cross the tracks and beat the light. How sad, accidents happen here all the time.
Better to have barriers.....accident can happen anytime!

someone I know actually jumped in front of an underground train in London and died, which is seriously not good!
