This is an informal "meet your MP", the opposition party leader of New Zealand, Phil Goff of the Labour party. There is no security guards. Just a group of party supporters in a public reserve have a BBQ.
I don't know if Phil Goff should have a security guard. He is the leader of opposition, and may be the next prime minister.
People can be quite crazy. You would believe it, but this is in our news today.
Prime Minister John Key's limousine was damaged last night as more than 100 activists - many angry over this year's sacking of the Environment Canterbury regional council - protested in Christchurch.
One jumped up and down on the car's roof, badly denting it.

How low key & laid back, was it a good BBQ?

I don't think MPs have security here (in London). Not the normal ones anyhow.
And I have no idea who my local one is!!!
THat is a nice relaxing party! Thank for popping over...Yes I watch Dr. Oz, he looks hot in his scrubs:)
great outings for the MP!

how great- a BBQ- wanna join it;-)
I don't think the MP's have security gaurds here in Canada, either. We're still a pretty safe country. It looks like it was a nice day for a bbq.

Guess NZ is a lot safer than elsewhere, so no need for security detail for MP's...
