Auckland Domain: Cricket Bandstand

http://showyourworld.blogspot.com/

My World Tuesday is late. I had trouble with the blogging.

This is the Cricket Bandstand at the Auckland Domain. It was built in 1899. The Domain lies mostly within the Pukekawa Volcano crater,

Before the "success" of the Soccer All Whites for having the honour of the team that was never beaten in the World Cup, Cricket and Rugby are New Zealand's top sports.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in February and March Auckland Cricket runs a Twilight cricket competition at the Auckland Domain. Any team can join in the fun! It's eight a side and 14 overs a team so you'll start at 6pm and be done by 8pm.

I took this photo of the girl running. No, she wasn't me. I wish she was.

Back in the early 1980s, I used to spend my lunch time with P Morrow running at the rim of this volcano. We were training for the 11 Kilometer Round the Bays. I remember him for his surname Morrow. Our work was liken to a conveyor belt in our accounts work. He was before me. When I went to him to see if I could get work from him, he would say," Tomorrow." So P became known as "P Morrow the tomorrow man."
