Save the world: Use organic pesticides

My elderly immigrant neighbour planted some cabbage plants. Sadly, some were infested by aphids. I asked him if he wanted to spray his sicked plants with a diluted vinegar spray. he was happy to try. I gave him a spray bottle and some vinegar.

I just went over and found the aphids had gone. He was so happy.

You make a solution of 10 % vinegar, and 90% water. It should be strong enough to kill the aphids and not burn your plant.

I used to grow a lot of vegetables until I got bitten by the blogging bug. LOL

Vinegar is very good for cleaning too, to my dish washing detergent, I add 2 spoon of vinegar and baking soda. My son likes this as the dishes don't smell of detergent.

You can save the world by using less of the pesticides that can be toxic to humans, animals, plants and the soil.

Wow! I know that vinegar is so good for a lot of things, but didn't know it is this effective for bugs on plants! It cleans our counter tops. And if you take a couple teaspoons when you eat, you will not get heartburn or acid reflux, so you don't have to take pills for it. It is good for so many things!

Hi Ann

Very good tips! I've also added some hot pepper to a vinegar solution and used it to repel insects from growing vegetables and also to keep the squirrels away from my fig tree.

Great one Ann. I was told to kill weeds to do a strong vinegar solution and burn them. I always have aphids at my plants and not wanting to use any pesticide, I wondered if vinegar were good and not killing the plants. Guess this is a great and handy post! I'm going to let all those aphids enjoy my vinegar spray this weekend..muah hahahahaha :) Happy weekend my friend.

I've written a few articles about natural cleaning products too. You would be surprised at the multitude of uses for nontoxic products such as the ones you mentioned; vinegar, baking soda, lemons, salt...
