My World Tuesday/Thursday Theme Song: Where have the flowers gone?

I dedicate this post to my friend M.
Less then two years ago,
M buried her 2 year old grand daughter.
On Saturday,
M will be burying her daughter.
Lightning has struck her twice.
It is not right,
but it has happened,
Just like the flax flower.
When they bloom,
They are beautiful.
Then they become dry and black.
My heart aches for you, M.
I understand,
I too buried a child.

IT'S ALL ABOUT MY NEW MEME THAT I HOPE SOME WILL FEEL LIKE JOINING IN ON THE CHALLENGE AND THE FUN [at least I hope the weekly challenge will be fun!]. It's loosely based on song lyrics [recorded songs since the beginning of time to today] and associating them with photos of yours...as I've done in the past...If you click on the link above, it'll take you to the Meme's Homepage for rules and buttons. There will be a Mr. Linky Widget for each individual week also. Do consider joining me sometime. Hope to see it flourish in time.

Where have all the flowers gone? Oooh oooh. Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls picked them ev'ry one.
When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone? Long time passing. Where have all the graveyards gone? Long time ago.
Where have all the graveyards gone? Covered in flowers, ev'ry one. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone? Oooh oooh. Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls picked them ev'ry one.
When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

I like the photos. What sort of flowers are they?
My heart goes out to your friend - no one should have to bury a child, and yet it happens all around us. You are so right about the horror in Japan, too.
Lilacs are a spring flower. About time I cut some sprigs and brought them indoors, along with more forsythia, to see the blossoms, before they bloom outdoors.

I'm so sorry to hear about this tragedy. A parent shouldn't be burying her/his child (LOTR). Hugs.

Parents are supposed to go first...not their children, but this is sadly not always the case. I know you are both mourning the loss of your friend’s child as well as reliving the loss of yours. I hope your photography is a comfort to you right now. Being able to express emotions through this medium can be so therapeutic. You and m. are both in my thoughts. As always, Ann, your pictures are beautiful.

I am so sorry to hear of this tragic loss. I, too, have a friend who buried her child. I remember seeing a very elderly lady sitting in a wheelchair at the front of the pews at the young girl’s memorial. She must have been thinking, why am I here and the girl is not? It is beyond understanding. I have found no answers but I wish both you and your friend eventual peace.

The Chinese often find it hardest to bear when it is the "white hair that sends the black hair" to the cemetery.

I am sure the grief that your friend bears is great.

The song Where have all the Flowers gone will always remind us that we have been burying a lot of young people who have gone to war every where!!

I remember this song, too, and both singers. You chose well, Ann. It is heartbreaking to bury a child or a grandchild, but for your friend to have gone through both losses is tragic. It is beyond heartbreaking. I'm glad she has you for a friend.
