Kiwi Fruit

The original Kiwi fruit known as Monkey fruit came from China. But it is New Zealand who developed this fruit to a delicious succulent juicy nutritious fruit. From a green fruit, they then developed a golden fruit. What an amazement, Scientists can do.

It is reputed to be rich in Vitamin C. It is also rich in Vitamins A and E, and its black seeds can be crushed to produce kiwi fruit oil, which is very rich in Alfa-Linoleic Acid (an important Omega-3 essential fatty acid).

Our friends S & L invited us to their mum's kiwi fruit farm in Waipu. We saw first hand how they prepared the kiwi fruits for harvest, checking for the sugar content early in the morning.

Outside New Zealand, people erroneously call it Kiwi which is our native bird.
