Save the world: Throw your rubbish in the bin
http://reducefootprints.blogspot.com/
Where do you throw your rubbish? Even as small as a piece of plastic lolly wrapper, or a plastic bag. Have you ever seen plastic bags flying like a balloon when you are driving? Have you seen mindless driver flick their cigarette buds out of their car window?
Spare a thought for men like my new found boyfriend George and his colleague. George tells me he goes round the suburb where the storm water drains are blocked with rubbish. His powerful vacuum cleaner truck sucks up all the debris in the drain that careless people throw out on the roads. Despite the powerful machine, his job is very messy as he has to put the giant hose down the grill.
"Why are you photographing?"
"I am interested. Can I take your photo?"
He obliged.
"What's you name?"
"George."
George then pointed to me the plastic bag on the grass verge, and one up on the tree. These are not staged photos.
"My machine is very loud, people complain, but what to do? If I don't do my job, the place gets flooded."
Ka Pai and Paki Paki, George.

Thanks for that insight. That plastic stuff sure can make a mess and cause a lot of trouble all the way around.
great info! I hvn't seen that before. must be real noisy!
Go George! What a great post. Really interesting to see one of those big machines at work.I've never seen one before.
You know, to me the onus is on the parents to teach the children from very young age about keeping the earth clean and green.
I have seen so many times with my own eyes, mother and the children throwing rubbish out of their car together, it makes me sad.
I hate that attitude of "if it is everybody's business,it is nobody's business"
hey take care now and god bless
Really interesting!! I don't think we have a truck like this, at least I've never seen one! But ewww, why is he having to put his head down there? I hope he doesn't have to stick his head down the storm drain!
Very interesting vacuum cleaner truck. Never see one in Malaysia...
We have a mini version of this, going around the main roads of the neighbourhood, sucking rubbish and leaves . Since it's so compact and operated by only one man, the machine runs on the pavements instead of the road.
The artwork was not done by the niece, I was at an exposition of Gundam DIY kits recently and saw some young kids were making masks. They had to colour the mask first.
There is nothing worse than seeing one throw a cigarette butt out of a car window...use the ashtray for petes sakes! Its amazing what we have found beside the road: diapers, beer bottles, fast food wrappers, tires and just plain trash.
We do need so many of these trucks around. Come Christmas many good hearted people would place presents in the rubbish bins for the public garbage collections ...but if our children never learn the niceties of throwing rubblish properly they will never learn the better ways of humanity. Cleanliness comes from the inside of every one of us.
My rubbish bin has been stolen twice already.....and now I am going to get another one which costs a bomb....There should be a world standardised price....and people still rubbish bins because they cannot afford to buy...
ah....rubbish...you know how it is here. People dont only throw small bits out of car but huge plastic bag of it..and more sickening recent new, a whole dead foetus!
