Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Flags

The New Zealand Flag.

In a school in South Auckland I visited recently, where 80% of the student population are immigrants, the school hangs up this flag of each of the nationalities of the students. Here are some of them. It is almost a mini United Nations.
Hoe many can you name?

We visited New York City, and posed in front of the United Nations building.

Addition:
Here's the flag of the Kingdom of Sarawak and the anthem, the land of my birth. Sarawak as a Kingdom is gone when they joined Sarawak and North Borneo with Malaya to form Malaysia. They ceased using this anthem in 1973, the year I was in my last year of High school. Thanks to fellow blogger Sarawakiana for bringing memories. It's been so long that I have forgotten the lyrics.

Lets see some international flavor for this one, you can do all types of flags for this one too. From garden flags to national and state/province flags, to goofy flags this should be fun..:-)

What an awesome thing, hanging the flag of each student's nationality. Sadly, I can't name very many of them. It think you may win the most international flag post! Well done!

Hmm... I don't see Chinese flag.

Wondering if older Sarawakians felt lost when the 'kingdom' joined Malaysia...

Sarawak is still marked on my world globe on the windowsill.

Re your comment on Old Hyde about the market - this is a regular market with tradespeople each selling their own range of wares.

A boot sale is where people gather to sell second-hand goods often from the "boots" of their cars (which is where the name comes from) - they take place in farmers' fields or on car parks usually at weekends (and often very early 6am - noon) - householders use them to clear out their clutter - a bit like the amercian yard-sales.

Hi Ann, thanks for stopping by for FSO. I am not good with flags. Don't know most of those. Your FSO pictures are amazing. So sorry to hear you don't have your mom's things. So good to hear from you. I have been away for a while.

I do not know all the flags but some, like the one from India. I did some study in India when I was at University.

I read that you lost a son, I feel sorry. And I am glad it was not his identity, that man took you wrote about.

In one year time I will do a trip with my hole family and we are planning to go to New Zealand. I love New Zealand.
1999/2000 I was working as a hut-warden in Tongariro national-park.
How knows maybe we will see each other,

Re: China flag. I am sure there was a China flag as there are many students from People's Repinlic of China.

It is most likely me, I was trying to be discrete when I was taking the photos. I must have missed a panel.

I won't be going there again as it took us more than one hour to get there. Besides, they may not let me take photos. At that time, I went on official duty.

I love the flags idea. A lovely way to respect all who are present in that school. Like that so much.

Love the flags and the pic in front of the U.N. When I lived in N.Y. we used to walk through the grounds on our lunch break and various other sites too, such as the Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral. I wasn't a camera nut then and when I did take pics they were the old fashioned kind. :-)

Your comment gave me a chuckle. Thanks for the visit.
