These days, some people opt for Green cabs or taxis. When it is just one person taking a taxi, he doesn't need a big car when a little car will suffice.
Here is a passenger taking a green cab to the airport.
In New Zealand, we have a Green Party in parliament.

I am a taxi driver and I agree, there are often only one or two passengers, so tiny car could be useful as taxis, but so often when you get to the pickup point there are more people than it was expected. Also many old people can not bend their knees as they used to, so need more room to get their legs into a car rather than less!I do think Green Cabs are the way to go, but it would be difficult frequently.
The main advantage would seem to be price.
I returned to say a big thank you for your kind comment on our Raisin Cat's passing. He was 17 years old and had lost a great deal of weight as he was not very well or happy, specially since we shifted house to Picton, where sudddenly all the neighbours hated cats, he just couldn't get used to the fact that he wasn't loved by all, it put him under great stress which made the weight loss worse. But he had a good life most of his life. Porsche the Burmese cat is only young but, she will never be a big fat cat the breed is always sleek and slim, she is very healthy, not very happy at loosing her companion but she is slowly coming right again. We love her heaps!
