Macro Monday: Bird of paradise

http://sundaystills.wordpress.com/

This is not an ordinary Bird of paradise. When I was little, my dad always pointed out things that were an oddity. These flowers came out from the same stalk. In normal cases, one stalk has one flower.

Please click on my older post of a normal bird of paradise flower.

how awesome that this is a double flower!
and Yes this is the earliest that I have ever seen ice crystals in my four years here. But frost is common in autumn.

I like heloconias(spelling?) but my garden is a wee too dry for them. Only a few shoots can come out. I need to change the top soil.
This is lovely.

Have often seen double bananas (once upon a time we were told not to eat them - parents were scared of mutation!!???) now I see double blossoms!

Ed mentioned Siamese Twins which was in my mind. My mum would not let use girls eat any Siamese Twins fruits especially bananas. She cautions us that if we ate them we would get Siamese Twins. Who were we to defy such warning.

I was very privileged to meet Jamuna and Ganga, the Nepalese Siamese Twins.http://annkschin.blogspot.com/2009/01/siamese-babies.html
Sarawakiana@2's parents told her a similar thing, we are from the same town in Borneo.

My old plant used to do that too every now and again, don't know why but I liked it cause it extended the life of the flowers even longer.
Nice shot.

Beautiful flower, Ann! My mom use to have those, but they grow too thick, she cut them off.

Nice shot! :)
