Our World: Pasifika Celebration

Pasifika is a word coined in New Zealand for the people of the 10 islands of Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Niue, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Tokelau, Tuvalu and Aotearoa. Pasifika Festival began in 1992, and has grown into one of Auckland's biggest cultural events - celebrating its 21st birthday this year.

Visitors enjoy the bustling markets, traditional foods, arts and crafts, and exciting song and dance performances.

For my save the world meme, these celebrations makes New Zealand born Pasifika children an awareness of their ethnicity.
