My feathered pets
When I was a child as a Roman Catholic in Sibu, I read about a book of patron saints. My favourite was Francis of Assisi who loved animals and birds. He had a special effect on me. When I have left-over rice or stale bread, I throw them out to the garden for the birds.
The family complains that I encourage the birds to poop on my laundry and on my car. Yes, I know that. But since I can't get my own pet duckling, these sparrows, pigeons and native New Zealand birds are just as good.
