Ken and Lois Thornton

Ken and Lois were a very lovely couple. They worked in YMCA in Hong Kong for a long time. They have no children, but they adopted and support two Chinese children. They were worshipping at the Baptist Tabernacle when we went there. Ken was the secretary then.

They took care of the overseas students, often inviting them home. When D was born, they became her grand parents as our birth parents were in Malaysia.

Ken died before 1990, I attended his funeral. It was a glorious home going.

When I was in Singapore, one of Lois's relatives wrote to me. Lois had passed away. He saw my letters to her, and felt that I should know. Yes, I am grateful for them who helped me adjust to the Kiwi way of life.

I was thinking of Ken and Lois today and google their name and got to your post. I left NZ 20+ years ago after my masters in Auckland Uni. Ken and Lois were such a lovely couple. They love us asian students and tried all ways to be our friends. They are gone the memories of their kindness lingers into eternity.
