Bird: Medium Brown

I am not an ornithologically minded person. Occasionally when I heard a bird chirp or see an unusual bird, I pay attention. A  couple of these brown birds feed on the rice and bread I toss out for them.

I have no dea what these birds are, I used the google machine for New Zealand nativie birds, but have no luck.

Perhaps you know what they are.
