Sunday scans/FSO: Rustic

This is rustic, the color has changed from a colour photo to a sepia. The Granddad has gone to heaven, and the little girl is now a beautiful girl.

A fort is really old, built by the Portuguese when they conquered Malacca in 1511 - 1641 . It is so rustic even the name has changed to Meleka. The Stadthuys (an old Dutch spelling, literally meaning "town hall"[1]), also known as the Red Square, is a historical structure situated in the heart of Malacca Town, the administrative capital of the state of Malacca, Malaysia. It was built by the Dutch occupants in 1650 as the office of the Dutch Governor and Deputy Governor. ***Correction, Thanks to Marja.***

These are real equipment used in th early Antarctica exploration, now on display in Chrischurch.

The rustic hut is similar to the old houses in the villages when I was young.

My nephew is now a dad of a kid as old as he was when he was dancing his traditional Kelabit dance of Borneo.

Our theme for Friday the 12th of August is Rust, Rusty, Rustic. This can be a color or a place, think outside the box. Rust and rusty are easy, I think. Also think of color, etc.

Here is the definition of rustic from Merriam-Webster online.
1
: of, relating to, or suitable for the country : rural
2
a : made of the rough limbs of trees
3
a : characteristic of or resembling country people
4
: appropriate to the country (as in plainness or sturdiness) rustic boots>

(rust color and has a country feel to it with the feet sticking out wouldn't you say?) A restaurant along the way on one of my outings with my camera.

These definitions are from Dictionary.com. for rustic.
of, pertaining to, or living in the country, as distinguished from towns or cities; rural.
2.
simple, artless, or unsophisticated.
3.
uncouth, rude, or boorish.
4.
made of roughly dressed limbs or roots of trees, as garden seats.
5.
(of stonework) having the surfaces rough or irregular and the joints sunken or beveled.

It will be fun to see what everyone does with this theme. I already have the perfect place to go for this theme in mind.

Is that you with your grandfather? What a wonderful picture! Yes, old color pictures will fade then turn rustic or into sepia. I wonder if the ones we take now will turn the same way many years in the future, or maybe the printing technology is better now.

It's a pity that the pictures lost their colors but they are still very nice and such good memories !

I think the loss of colour adds to their atmosphere - a reaqlly old and happy feel to them. Thank you.

I agree with Scriptor that the fading sepia color of old pictures is a great way to interpret this weeks theme. Wonderful memories and pictures. Thanks..

Why I didn't think of sepia as rusty looking ^_^. Great idea from a great mind. Thanks for sharing!

I loved your take on this theme, Ann. Really sweet shots.

I didn't think of sepia as a way of doing the theme this week, but I think it's perfect.

Look at that little dancer! I hope he's still rockin' it.

It's wonderful that you still have the old photos even though they are fading.

the chinese couplets pasted on the walls which used to be considered San Ba (village like) are now in fashion. Most Chinese shops in Miri have them now...And I think many homes have them during Chinese new year...

I remember my grandma once pasted a set after she bought them in Sibu from one famous calligrapher...and we thought that was a good New year for us.

Some of my old photos are fading too. Reminds me I ought to scan a few more of them before they disappear altogether! Great thought for the theme.
