To Love Somebody

In November 2010, Robin Gibbs and the Pointer Sisters came to New Zealand and the water engineer and I went to vector arena to enjoy his birthday. The Bee Gees were one of his favourite bands when he was growing up. Our daughter gave us the tickets to watch his performance which may well be his last here in New Zealand.

Yesterday, the TV announced that Robin was in a coma.

The legendary musician was diagnosed with liver cancer last year, and underwent a life-saving procedure for a blocked intestine, which was the same condition that led to the tragic death of his twin brother Maurice eight years ago.

The water engineer is not a lovey dovey type of person, in fact I had been complaining, but when I read the following, I emailed it to him and my siblings and nieces and nephews yesterday.

By Words of Wisdom
When someone loves you they dont have to say it, you can tell by the way they treat you...!

- Words of Wisdom
After almost 35 years, someone tells me from Facebook..
I am not going to complain that "you don't send me flowers anymore."

Here is a Bee Gees' song that the water engineer likes to sing.

To Love Somebody lyrics
Songwriters: Barry Gibb;Robin Gibb

There's a light, a certain kind of light that never shone on me
I want my life to lived with you, lived with you
There's a way everybody say to do each and every little thing
But what does it bring if I ain't got you, ain't got? Baby

You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody, to love somebody
The way I love you

In my parade, I see your face again, I know my frame of mind
You ain't got to be so blind and I'm blind, so, so, so very blind
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/bee-gees-lyrics/to-love-somebody-lyrics.html ]
I'm a man, can't you see what I am? I live and breathe for you
But what good does it do if I ain't got you, ain't got? Baby

You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody, to love somebody
The way I love you

You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody, to love somebody
The way I love you

You don't know what it's like
You don't know what it's like
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody, to love somebody

I remember seeing the Bee Gees when they were just teenagers starting out. They were playing in a hotel on the Gold Coast. It is sad they died so young.
TOH is the same as the water engineer regarding flowers and telling me of his love .

Oh my GOSH!!! You have no idea how much we LOVE the BEE GEES!!!!! I started buying their albums in the 60's, and continued following them, I remember dancing to one of their albums when our son was tiny and I was tie dying shirts. I had ALL of their albums, they are geniuses at song writing. And lately I have been trying to find out more about Robin, but there is not that much in the news about him. He is so painfully thin now. already Andy and Maurice have died... I didn't know this intestinal thing is hereditary...
