Sam's My Roskil Karate club is at Wesley school, located at Sandringham Road.
The two male Sin Seis Leonard Kong and Johnny Ling represent New Zealand in Karate. At the WKF World Championships in Tampere, Finland, Johnny Ling passed his WKF Referee exams in 2006. This year, at the Oceania championship, Sam's female Sin Sei Andrea Anacan won the Kata in the Female 16, Leonard won bronze for Kumite - Male 18+ -65 kg.
There are lots of children and grown ups in the club. They often go for competitions including out of town to up north in Whangarei.
Sam is now a brown white tip belt and won a bronze for fighting in his Kumite in the 2008 New Zealand open championship. We went to the YMCA at the North Shore to cheer him on. Fighting is in our blood, you see Leonard is my cousin, mum's brother's son.
