Pier at Okahu Bay

This is a long pier, there are many people finishing and just as many people watching others fish.

Apparently, there is a unspoken ettiquete never to ask a fisherman if he caught any fish.

He won't tell you directly, He will just say, enough for a tiny meal.

I have walked there many times, the sea breeze is very strong.

I didn't know that you mustn't ask a fisherman if he caught any fish! Thanks for your visit!

Dinzie,

You were very smart not to fish there. The water is polluted. Two weeks ago, when we had our power cut, raw sewage were dumped there.

Reader Wil,

My brother, an anthropologist tells me that this stamps from the practicalities that the fisherman would not have to share his catch with you if he says his catch is very little. If he tells you he caught a lot of fish, he would feel obliged to share some of the catch with you.

So they make up things like bad luck if they told you.

I have actually seen fisherman actually quickly cover up their catch.

Another reason which is quite possible is that they don't want to you join them at this spot, and have competition to catch the fish.
